Meet Mary,

Founder of Sourland Wellness

Hi, My name is Mary and I am happy you are here. Please allow me to tell you a little bit about my background and I look forward to hearing about yours…

My Story

I began studying Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine after a very severe car accident left me in chronic pain and unable to work for many months. I actually met an 80 year old Acupuncturist at an Open Mic of all places in Los Angeles and she took one look at me and said, “something happened to you. Can I see your tongue?” Certainly this was not a question any of my doctors or physical therapists had asked, but I was intrigued. Later I discovered it was a way for Acupuncturists to determine the internal state of the body, mind, and spirit.

She immediately said “you are to come and see me tomorrow at noon, young lady. No excuses.”

And so I went.

And wow, am I glad I did.

You know how there are certain times in your life when there is someone or something that just puts you right on the path that you meant to be on? Call it an angel or divine providence or fate or whatever you wish, I was blessed enough to have been guided to her that night.

And after two treatments with her, I came back to life. I was able to walk better, had less pain in the body, my spirit was brighter. I was so grateful. And a few years later I began Graduate School at Yo San University where I received my Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Graduating with honors and as the Valedictorian of our class, I continue to seek excellence both in my understanding of each individual and their imbalances, always leaning into compassion and patience with the healing process.

I seek to empower people in their understanding of their body’s innate ability to heal.

Through Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Nutritional Counseling (please read about Sourland Bread here) and intuitive healing, my clients are given a variety of tools to get to the root of their symptoms and imbalances. I work with people of all ages, from newborns to the elderly.

I named my practice Sourland Wellness because of my decades long connection to trees as ally’s for healing. They are truly remarkable, wise beings and I have personally experienced true healing with their help and I like to think I have helped them in some way as well. There is a micro- or macro- cosmic exchange between animals and trees and I think this is a life-long study for me. The Sourland Mountain range happens to travel right through where my practice lives …so there are so many trees, so much nature, and beautiful history. You can learn more about it here.

It is a gift to share this medicine and my experience with you all and I am honored to be sharing the space with such incredible healers and wellness facilitators.

I look forward to meeting you.

Warmly,

Mary
